Teddy Von Sivers, owner of Trash Vintage and EFT Tapping practitioner.
Words and Imagery by Hannah Sims @hannahesims
It was one of those windy Spring Wednesdays when Teddy Von-Sivers came to hang out in our castle in the clouds. A huge smile, eyes clear and bright with striking blue puddles and a thick head of brilliantly red curls holding an overflowing box of her most eccentric styles; is what I found at the front door. A vibrant, fierce and highly intelligent woman with a strong moral fibre and an equally curious temperament.
This one was surely a lioness in another life.
Teddy is the owner of Trash Vintage Byron Bay, an EFT Tapping Practitioner, an interior design graduate, a stylist, an all-round creative enthusiast, an environmentalist and a tapped-in power house.
She’s the kind of person you often walk away from a conversation with wondering what your name is, in awe of her impossible stimulation, her mesmerising beauty and her high vibrational energy all at once, while she tells you about her latest curiosity, workshop or adventure. This is a goddess that makes sure she never stops learning, growing or giving.
After a few enlightening hours under her hypnosis I may have become aware of my impending identity crisis, but before I got to that point, myself and this inspiring, open-hearted feline had some fascinating conversations about some stuff that really matters.
Undoubtedly, one of the most striking of Teddy’s qualities is her eccentricity and the uniqueness she exudes through her bold sense of style. No surprises here, she is both a stylist and the owner of perhaps the most iconic vintage store in Byron Bay.
It is somewhat humbling for us muggles to realise though, that there once was a time when even this gorgeous super-human experienced moments of doubt and uncertainty about her self- expression. Like most of us, Teddy too experienced a time when she found it difficult to really back herself. At a time when she was struggling to approach the world with her creative desires, self-expression through personal style became a fundamental approach to her finding her confidence. She noticed that when she began to fearlessly express herself through her image, pathways began to open leading her to new and positive experiences and connections.
“If you’re not confident enough to express yourself through your style, where else is this lack of confidence coming through in your life? Are you chasing after what you truly want and saying what you truly think? Are you making those informed decisions in every aspect of your life?” – Teddy
Teddy remembers turning to EFT Tapping as a healing modality all those years ago, and it was at this point that she started to explore the blocks within herself caused by past experiences concerning self-devaluation - that old chestnut.
So what is tapping? Similar to acupuncture, tapping works with the meridians in the body, only rather than using needles to stimulate these points, tapping relieves stress and subconscious blocks by tapping on the meridians, using energy psychology.
“It’s important to fix not only the tip of the iceberg, but the whole of what is underneath. But the journey is not to be ‘healed’ or ‘perfect’. That’s not what being human is about. It is about experiencing life and growth, and that happens through evolving through difficult times” - Teddy.
Tapping opens doorways to our subconscious mind, allowing us to move beyond our conscious selves to make deep shifts concerning our beliefs about ourselves and our existence. Only once these deep self-beliefs begin to shift, can we begin to open up and attract situations and events into our conscious experience, our life, that would have been impossible beforehand. Whether we do it unknowingly or knowingly, each moment of our lives we act as human magnets, emitting emotions and thoughts as energy and attracting back this same energy we have put out. This is the Law of Attraction. You see, like the mind is the centre for thinking, the heart is the centre for feeling, and in order to invite good in, we must first feel good within. By tapping, we can invite the law of attraction to work to our benefit, as it helps us to realise our potential to attract positive experiences and people into our life by first addressing the reasons we may not be feeling so full of love for ourselves.
“Our heart puts out a really powerful frequency, 5000% stronger than our brain. In a state of feeling we are really attracting stuff.” – Teddy.
So with all this talk of putting good energy out into the world, what’s the importance of putting good energy into ourselves?
Simple. Food is fuel and If we want to put the good stuff out it is essential that we first put the good stuff in. Our emotional state is directly connected to our body and mind, therefore our emotional health is directly related to our mental and physical health. Weaknesses in the body can be caused form weakness in the mind and by negative self-belief and the food we eat has a direct effect on how both our mind and body function. What better way could there possibly be to ensure we give ourselves as much love, strength and power as possible than by being aware of where our food comes from, how it is produced, watching what we consume and maintaining a balanced and sustainable diet.
“We work so hard to put organic food in our body and foods that are good for us so that we are fully functioning, our brains are operating and our emotions are stable so that we can live well and do these things we love. Thank-goodness for companies like The Daily Bar, conscious companies that are making these products, otherwise what else would we have? Toxic crap and sugar filled snack foods that cause cancer.” – Teddy.
Hours passed like moments that afternoon. Eventually day turned to night and with it Teddy bounced back out the door, into her van and on down the mountain. Minutes later, when my brain began to process those last few hours, I found myself silent, still and staring with eyes wide at the wall, attempting to digest the display of brilliance that had just unravelled before my eyes. My mind had left my body and had been blown far into the sky in an afternoon spent consumed by Teddy’s magnificent mind, her electric energy and her honest and powerful vulnerability. Hypnosis is definitely a thing when it comes to truly powerful and positive women.
